This League will be a Sealed Pool, Commander Precon Level Up League.
How League Works
Players will start with a precon of their choice. We highly recommend avoiding Mono Commanders or 5 Color Commanders. Players have the option of purchasing a new pre-constructed Commander deck from Mission: Fun & Games or supplying their own - this cost is in addition to the cost of the league entry. In either case, the pre-con must consist of cards from the ORIGINAL card list for the deck in question, and must be able to be validated by the league organizer.
Attendance to Week 0 is mandatory for all League players -during our first meet we will go over the rules (along with where they will be posted on the Mission: Fun & Games Website,) and address any necessary clarifications. At this time, any player wishing to drop from the league may still do so for a full refund of their league entry fees - but please note thatthis must happen before any packs are opened. Players will then open12 booster packs of their choice from among standard legal sets. (Final Fantasy is excluded due to its ongoing availability issues.) Players will be required to document the card pool of a fellow player for league accountability and continuity. Once a player’s pool has been documented, each player will be able to select a Commander pre-con to accompany their sealed pool. Players may take the week to consider their choices but must arrive on Sept 13th with a pre-con ready to play. The remainder of Week 0 will be casual play.
Over the course of the 12 week season, players will gain points for each successful opponent elimination. Play pods for each week after the firstwill be determined by the standings from these points. Each pod will be able to activate a certain number of cards based on bracket
- (Bracket 1A & 1B) - 2 Cards per week
- (Bracket 2A & 2B) - 3 Cards per week
- (Bracket 3A & 3B) - 4 Cards per week
- (Bracket 4A & 4B) - 5 Cards per week
A card activation allows you to move cards you have chosen from your pool to a sideboard state, allowing you to use them to augment your deck. You may not augment your deck with a card from your pool unless you have used an activation slot on it.
Every second week starting with week 2 each player may add a single card from their personal collection to their deck (with the exception of a replacement commander). Cards added must adhere to the rules of commander:
- No duplicate cards may be used (excepting basic Lands)
- The added card must match your Commanders colour identity.
You are allowed to change your commander to any legal legendary in your card pool.
Each player will be given an achievement list with goals such as "Chaos warp your own Commander". These achievements will earn you tickets. At the end of the league you can redeem your tickets for random prizes.
League Rules
All players must agree to the rules of conduct for this league to play in it. The rules of conduct are the following:
Be respectful of the playspace — clean up after yourself and do not disturb store product
Be respectful of other players — ensure you are clean and hygienic, respect the boundaries and comfort of other players. This includes things like being inappropriate towards other players, their property, and their personal boundaries. We are an inclusive space, and respect is extremely important to our store.
Be respectful to the rules of the game - do not ruleshark, do not cheat, do not purposely mislead or bully other players to benefit yourself or others at your table. If you have a game question, please ask a judge for a ruling.
Failure to follow these rules of conduct may result in a ban from further league play, or a ban from the store depending on the severity.
Banned Decks
Please note that the following pre-constructed decks have been banned from this season:
- Murders at Markov Manor - Blame Game
- Modern Horizons 3 - Creative Energy
- Tarkir Dragonstorm - Temur Roar
- Lost Caverns of Ixalan - Explorers Of The Deep
These decks were the top 4 from season 1. After this season has ended the top 4 from this season will be banned, and the previous top 4 will be available for season 3. The commanders and sub-commanders from these pre-cons are also banned for this season.
