The design provides both efficient storage and improved game play. Many of the trays can be utilized during the game, and they greatly aid set-up and clear-away times. The rules and boards act as a lid on top of the trays.
The full colour print really brings the trays to life, tying them in with the theme of the game and making it easier to see which components go where.
The insert is arranged in up to seven layers, with the character tuckboxes arranged at one end of the box as shown. All the card trays are sized for sleeved cards and the trays are colour coded with icons to show which components go where. A key part of the design are the four monster trays, with separate slots to store each monster with it's ability cards and tokens.
The insert includes four player trays, which can only be added to the game box if the map tiles are stored elsewhere (such as in Folded Space's FS-GLOMAP map tile archive product). With the player trays removed there is room in the game box for the map tiles, see bottom of the page for further details.
Every tray includes images from the rulebook or game cards and boards. The images greatly improve the look of the trays, but also help in game clear up as you can instantly see what goes where.
The insert includes a long filler tray which is used to organize the character miniature tuckboxes in the bottom of the game box. The main parts of the tray have no base, and it is intended to remain in the game box. There is one additional optional filler tray which holds the player trays in place. This tray can also be used to store the metal coin bag available for the game.
If you are using the player trays, when packing the box simply place the rule book, scenario book and section book on top of the insert trays. Lastly add the scenario flowcharts on top of everything. This fully fills the box without any lid lift and allows you to vertically store the game (should you see the need to do so). If you are not using the player trays, you can use this space to store the map tiles. Add them in layers as shown on top of the map board. Then add the rule book, scenario book and section book on top. Lastly add the scenario flowcharts on top of everything as before.
